Renal ischemia was caused by clamping of the renal artery for 90 min. Fifteen minutes prior to the release of the clamp intravenous treatment with either 1,2-propanediol nitric oxide (PDNO, n = 8) or vehicle (propanediol + inorganic nitrite, n = 8) was commenced.
