  1. Given are demographic and clinical characteristics at the time of study inclusion before therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) treatment. Values are presented as median (25% to 75% interquartile range) or if categorical as numbers and percentages. Demographic characteristics for the control patients were: median (IQR) age 50 (28–63) years and 15/20 males for laboratory investigation controls; 39 (36–44) years and 5/10 males for SDF measurement controls. All individuals of the control cohorts had no relevant medical preconditions
