Mortality in ICU according to sTREM-1 kinetics. ICU patients were segregated into four different groups according to the sTREM-1 baseline level and kinetics. Group A: patients with low baseline sTREM-1 (< median: 224 pg/mL) that remained low (n = 59); Group B: low sTREM-1 that increased by more than 20% (n = 49); Group C: high sTREM-1 (> 224 pg/mL) that decreased of more than 20% (n = 39); and Group D: high sTREM-1 that stayed high (n = 85).
