Red boxes represent patients under flow controlled ventilation (n = 20), while blue boxes represent patients of the historic control (n = 56). For both groups MEF50/MIF50 ratio increases significantly after surgery and returns to baseline within 24 h. There is no difference between the groups over time (p = 0.7745). Significant differences could be found between baseline vs. 30 min (p < 0.0001) and 120 min (p = 0.0042)
